What We Do

The Australasian Biospecimen Netwok –Oncology (ABN-Oncology) is a national network of biobanks established to collect, process and disseminate biospecimens for cancer research, ranging from basic laboratory projects through to clinical trials. The network leverages the collection of relatively common tumour types, and strategically targets specific rare tumour types that can only be collected in substantial numbers through the formation of such a network. This type of networking adds value to sometimes underutilized resources by centralising biospecimen availability and improving its access to researchers.

ABN-Oncology also serves to provide a forum to address technical, legal/ethical, and managerial issues relevant to human biospecimen repositories within Australia and New Zealand.
